Langley,
B.C. - The BC Inline Hockey Association is pleased to announce the
2008 TEAM BC High Performance Program.
The
2008 program will include the 18&under team and the 14&under
BC Cup event.
Started
in 2006 with 5 Zone teams (14&under) participating in the 2006
BC Summer Games, the High Performance Program grew in 2007 to include
the 15&under and 18&under BC Provincial Teams.
The
18&under team travelled to Colorado for the National Junior
Festival and claimed the Gold Medal. The 15&under team travelled
to Sherwood Park, Alberta for the Canada West Cup and claimed the
Silver Medal.
The
High Performance Program is designed for elite players will give
them an opportunity to showcase their skills in a provincial/international
setting.
BCIHA
will use these programs to identify the top players in each age
group. In addition, these programs continue along the NIHA-Canada
High Performance Program leading to the men's Canadian National
Team that will compete in the IIHF World Championships beginning
in 2008.
Players
will have the opportunity to compete in a premier environment under
the guidance of BCIHA and its top coaches.
These
2 teams will represent our province at two elite events this season.
14&under
- BC Cup (held in
even numbered years)
BCIHA
will conduct the BC Cup camp this summer that will consist of practices
and tournament games during the process. 40 skaters and 8goalies
will be take part in this 3-day event. This event is designed to
identify and develop the top players in the province and prepare
them for upcoming Team BC programs in subsequent years.

15&under
- Canada West Cup (held
in odd numbered years)
BCIHA
will conduct a Provincial Team Tryout camp this spring that will
consist of practices and games during the process. 10 skaters and
2 goalies will be selected to represent BC at the Canada West Cup
in 2009.
This
event showcases 3 ALBERTA Regional teams and Team MANITOBA that
have been selected at Regional tryouts in those provinces. 2009
will be the 4th time this bi-annual event has been offered.
This
will be Team BC's 2nd entry into the competition and the next step
up the High Performance ladder in our province.

Festival this August in Brampton, Ontario.
This
event showcases Canadian Provincial teams that have been selected
at Regional tryouts around the country.
This
will be Team BC's 2nd entry into the competition and the next step
up the High Performance ladder in our province.
